Neighborhood shrines and temples

Each neighborhood has a local shrine or temple- we have the odd combo of both in one.  This is a rare happening in Japan, but this one that is down the street from us is both.  We met the priest's grand daughter while on our morning walk and invited her over for the afternoon.  The girls had a lovely time together.   It is once again a testament to the utter irrelevance of spoken language for children.

Japan in Spring

Sakura are stunning.  We venture out today and are blown away by the country exploded into puffs of cotton candy.  It's so Japanese to have such a wild display of beauty but then done in the subtlest of colors.  Though pink is not a typical color of Japan I think it has made a wise decision to give into pastels this one time.
